Wiki
“Nosferatu” (2024) is an upcoming American gothic horror film written and directed by Robert Eggers. This project is a remake of the iconic 1922 silent German expressionist film, Nosferatu – Eine Symphonie des Grauens, which was itself an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Eggers, known for his atmospheric and historically rooted horror films, has long considered Nosferatu a passion project. The film, set to release on December 25, 2024, stars Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok, alongside Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, and a stellar ensemble cast. It is produced by Studio 8, Birch Hill Road Entertainment, and Maiden Voyage Pictures, with Focus Features handling U.S. distribution.
Synopsis
Set in the late 19th century, Eggers’ Nosferatu follows the eerie and obsessive relationship between a haunted young woman, Ellen Hutter (played by Lily-Rose Depp), and Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård), a terrifying vampire. As Ellen and her husband Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult) visit a remote village to negotiate a real estate deal, they become entangled in a web of dark mystery and terror. Orlok’s vampiric nature is slowly revealed as he preys upon Ellen, unraveling her psyche and causing devastation in the town. The gothic narrative builds on themes of obsession, horror, and the supernatural, underscored by Eggers’ signature blend of psychological and atmospheric terror.

Review
While Nosferatu (2024) has yet to be released, anticipation is high due to Robert Eggers’ track record of creating chilling, historically immersive horror films like The Witch and The Lighthouse. Early set photos and reports of its moody cinematography suggest that the film will stay true to its gothic horror roots while injecting new life into the classic tale. With Bill Skarsgård taking on the role of Count Orlok, fans of his previous performance as Pennywise in It are excited to see his unique take on this iconic vampire. The supporting cast, including Nicholas Hoult and Lily-Rose Depp, promises to deliver emotionally rich and intense performances. If Eggers’ past films are any indication, Nosferatu will likely be visually stunning, deeply unsettling, and an atmospheric triumph in gothic horror cinema.
