Synopsis
In Amber Alert, the seemingly ordinary day of rideshare driver Shane (Tyler James Williams) and his passenger Jaq (Hayden Panettiere) takes a terrifying turn when both receive an Amber Alert on their phones. The alert describes a black Toyota Camry suspected to be involved in the abduction of a young girl. As fate would have it, the vehicle directly in front of them matches the car in the alert. Jaq quickly convinces Shane to follow the car, initiating a tense chase as they try to save the abducted child.
At a gas station, Jaq approaches the car but is unable to see clearly through the darkly tinted windows. She cleverly tosses an earphone into the car to eavesdrop on the driver’s conversation. As they follow the car, they discover that the driver, Aaron (Kurt Oberhaus), has a girl in the backseat who he claims is his daughter, Olympia. Aaron manages to convince the authorities to cancel the Amber Alert after giving misleading information. Though it seems the chase is over, Jaq remains suspicious, and the two continue following Aaron, determined to uncover the truth before it’s too late.
The suspense builds as Shane and Jaq play a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the kidnapper, hoping to rescue the child and avoid becoming targets themselves.

Review
Amber Alert (2024) is a thrilling and suspenseful film that effectively captures the tension of a real-life emergency scenario. Hayden Panettiere delivers a standout performance as Jaq, a determined woman who refuses to sit back when she senses something is wrong. Tyler James Williams complements her with his portrayal of Shane, a reluctant hero who gets pulled into the heart-pounding chase. The film’s pacing keeps viewers on the edge of their seats as the situation escalates from a simple rideshare to a deadly pursuit.
The emotional depth of the film is also worth noting, as it explores the fear and helplessness experienced by those involved in child abduction cases. Director Kerry Bellessa successfully creates a claustrophobic atmosphere with tight shots and tense moments, especially as the characters face moral dilemmas along the way. The cat-and-mouse dynamic between the protagonists and Aaron adds layers of suspense, making the movie a gripping watch.
While Amber Alert may not break new ground in terms of its plot, it is an effective thriller that keeps audiences engaged from start to finish. The film’s commentary on how ordinary people can become heroes in extraordinary circumstances is both inspiring and chilling.
